August Eclipse Season ~ The Only Constant is Change

(approximate reading time 10-15mins)

The only constant is change.

I’ve been thinking allot lately about this profound truth.

Impermanence.  Life moves.  Nothing stays the same.

So why do we resist this truth so much?

It’s one thing to acknowledge this truth when nothing seems to be changing, while we are merrily going about our lives, humming along our familiar territories, content and comfortable with the status quo, and quite another when change is upon us, and we have to deal with it in the now.

Our bodies are hard-wired to survive.  Fear is our body’s primary tool used for keeping us alive.

But I often wonder why most of us seem to fret and worry about change and survival far more than is appropriate or useful?

The body itself is constantly changing.  If we really pay attention to it, we see that nothing stays the same from day-to-day.

Well, if the body knows this, why all the fuss when external change comes a’knockin’?

Somehow we’ve been programmed to resist the ground of our existence as change itself.  We’ve been brainwashed into believing we can freeze time and circumstance to remain just the way we think we want it.

But do we really want things to stay the same?  I bet a part of us does indeed.

And the other parts?

Is there a deeper part of us that seeks change?

Is there a deeper part of us that seeks to grow, evolve, experience ourselves anew and have new adventures?

Is there a deeper part of us that seeks to discover and reveal new potential?

I think there is.

So maybe our deepest selves are intimately aligned with the truth of impermanence.

And maybe the changes that are upon us personally and collectively are exactly what we need and want.

I’ve been thinking allot about this lately and hearing the quiet voice of spirit whispering-

“Let go and embrace change because you are change.  Your peace and happiness depend on you embracing and being who you truly are.”

These thoughts are not random.  My own life is going through major changes right on schedule with two powerful eclipses that are approaching this month, and I bet your life circumstances are shifting, too, as we near these symbolic markers:

August 7th ~ Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius

August 21 ~ New Moon Solar Eclipse in Leo

Astrological tradition teaches that eclipse seasons are usually experienced as accelerated times of change and transition, of endings and beginnings.

Life is always moving and changing.  Nothing stays the same.  So, what’s the big deal?

I think the big deal around eclipse season is that we usually go about our lives rather unconsciously, but eclipses are symbolic of the “wake up call.”  Doors close.  We lose something.  Something ends.  Simultaneously (or seemingly and uncomfortably delayed), a door opens.  We find something.  Something begins.  These changes tend to jolt us wide awake so that we can participate in our evolution more consciously and without resistance to the fundamental ground of our existence-change.

So, we are all likely going through it this month as life highlights the necessity for change and evolution.

I take comfort in the knowledge that we have all been here before.  We’ve been through many, many changes.  In fact, we are change itself.  If this is what we are, then a deep part of us knows how to navigate merrily through the changes and use them to evolve and expand into ever more awareness, fulfillment, prosperity and wholeness.

Every week I receive Rob Brezsny’s Free Will Astrology Newsletter and horoscopes.  This week I appreciated synchronicity’s hand in delivering to me this message from Rumi via Rob Brezsny:

“And so the best way to cultivate inner peace might be to learn to love the way everything keeps changing.”

Right on time.

There is a great mysterious beauty unfolding its being through the eternal constant of change.

We are this being and becoming.

Navigate with calm confidence and enjoy the ride!

See you on the other side.

2017 Overleaves ~ “Shift Happens”

(approximate reading time 10-15mins)

Hello, all, and Happy 2017!

I think The Tower (XVI) from the tarot’s major arcana is an appropriate symbol that gives more insight into the patterns of the year ahead.  Or maybe the shock and surprise shown in the image of the tower came last year!

Either way, The Tower symbolizes shocking realization and awakening that is sometimes the necessary precursor that initiates the process of deep cleansing and healing.

We are in it, folks!

Hold tight to your center of love and conscience in the days ahead and stand up for a cause that is for the greater good.  Healing and evolution is the truth inside all this apparent madness.

Here is what I got from Michael on the patterns for the year ahead.

***

2017 Overleaves

Role: WARRIOR
Center: HIGHER MOVING (default to MOVING)
Goal: DOMINANCE
Mode: PASSION
Attitude: PRAGMATIST sliding to REALIST
Chief Feature: ARROGANCE

Michael Entity:  We see Warrior as the role for the year due to many fragments, not just in the United States, but worldwide, who are clear that it is time to stand for something, to be loyal and devoted to some cause, to put themselves into submission to this cause and to take coordinated and strategic action to bring an air of victory to their cause, whatever that may mean to the various groups.
As you know some will be pursuing causes that are not for the greater good and some will be pursuing causes that are.  Because the Warrior energy is so single-minded and “bull-headed,” if you will, we think we will continue to see quite a bit of polarization throughout the year, as completely opposing values continue to collide, as each side forcefully and passionately stands behind its cause.

This is normal and the way when a collective is in the middle of a soul age transition, and in particular in the shift from young to mature.

The values here that are clashing are those of the young within the perception of “There is you and there is me, and I am going to win (or influence or impact you) as I take my own position as far as I can” and those of the mature which are “There is me and there is you, and I feel your pain” or “We all hurt, therefore, we all can choose to hold one another up and help one another, creating win-wins instead of win-loses.  This is a perception that everyone has rights, that everyone is equal and that everyone should be considered moving forward.

This clash in values can be seen throughout all the major structures and institutions of the planet across the board: political, economic, social, educational, etc.

The centering for the year harmonizes quite well with that of the Warrior focus, at least in its default of Moving Center, but when the higher center is engaged, the Higher Moving, the Warrior energy can feel quite lost, as the Higher Moving can first be experienced as quite chaotic before it is experienced as beautiful pattern and recognition of those patterns.

So, as the Higher Moving energy manifests in peaks throughout the year, we see a high probability of pauses, standstills and re-calibration within the various groups and causes that are fighting to have their voices heard on this planet at this time. The recognition of higher patterns and broader perspectives on the way your collective is evolving will ultimately help to bring all of these groups, these conflicting and polarized groups, into a new kind of alignment that is arrayed around common goals and causes that supersede what came before.

This is much like realizing that though you would like to buy that new “toy” that you have been wanting for quite some time, it might be better or serve the whole you better to go to the doctor first and focus on healing the massive tumor that you have identified in your lung, for example. The want and the desire for the toy doesn’t go away necessarily, but you choose to focus all of your time, energy and resources toward the more essential need of the moment. Once the healing has come or the road to recovery has come-once it has been addressed, then you may want to go back to fulfilling the other desire.

So in this shift of alignment, it is not that certain desires or wishes are excluded and dismissed. Not at all. They are simply set aside for the time being to work on the most essential issues, challenges, crises, etc.

We think that by the end of the year, it will be quite obvious to most who are actively participating in the changes on your planet in this transition more fully into the mature soul paradigm, what the patterns and over-arcing realities of necessity are actually saying. It will become clearer and clearer without a doubt the direction your species is headed on this planet, if you continue to fight each other and allow corporations and special interests to do nothing to help heal and nurture the environment in which you live.

As chaos is the negative pole of the Higher Moving energy, it is also likely that the year will be punctuated by brief to long phases of anxiety as a very chaotic reality appears to swirl and eddy in the collective. These chaotic eruptions would help to bring what needs to be healed more to the surface so that the aftermaths and the work on recovery begin to fall into the larger patterns of where the collective is wanting to go.

Dominance would be the goal because there is a very high focus on the necessity for each individual to be a leader by example in the ways that they feel most drawn to be.  Whether it be in a very small personal sphere where our students are working on moving from the negative pole of dictatorship to the positive pole of leadership or whether it be in much larger community contexts, the process would be the same of that movement from the negative poles to the positive poles, with the focus on choosing to be at cause, choosing to participate, choosing to choose amidst all of the shifting chaos and patterns being revealed in the coming year.

In terms of relating, we see Passion being the key here, in the sense of “what inspires you and whom”? It also has the mark of pursuing the goal of dominance with full energy and inspiration.

When in the negative poles, identification would be the experience, which means losing the sense of self to the sense of passion, to the cause, to the fight, so to speak, and losing all perspective of one’s self within these arenas-losing all perspective that one is a part of the cause because one chooses to be, but they are not one and the same.

Next we come to Pragmatist sliding to Realist. This is a focus on-in terms of interpretation and philosophy-on “what works”. This will be the fundamental platform from which the collective is looking at events this year-what works? In the negative, this will be dogma and what works, whether it works or not in actuality, will be held on to stubbornly and fought for as dogma. Whereas in the positive pole, efficiency will leave room for new learning and testing and experimentation to see what actually works better than what has come before. It is a perspective that is open and flexible and continues to gather input, continuing to piece together what works, rather than closing down out of fear and laziness toward synthesizing new information.

We see that the collective will often use the attitude of Realist to “partner” with the Pragmatist in order to move forward throughout the year, focusing on being objective in their assessments and interpretation, which will help to pull the Pragmatist into the positive pole of efficiency.

And finally we come to the chief feature of Arrogance, which in the format that you are used to [as channeled by Troy Tolley of TruthLoveEnergy], would be most dominant in the experience of the collective in the last 3 months of 2017.

Arrogance is the fear of vulnerability, the fear of being seen too closely and judged for what is seen. Arrogance is a means of protection against this fear of vulnerability and being exposed and judged. The defense is to “puff the self up,” to present a façade and an armor that seems to show no vulnerability or weakness but only superior qualities.

We see this arrogance not only in the causes that represent the side of “right”-and when we say “right” we simply mean moving in a direction that includes the whole and is better for the whole rather than just for individuals or small groupings-and in the causes that represent the side of “wrong.” It is obvious why those that represent the causes of exclusion and those resisting the flow of evolution-it is easy to see their arrogance. It is not always easy to see the arrogance in the causes that are striving to be inclusive and to implement better ways of having and being and doing for the whole.

Arrogance tends to dismiss, reject, defend against criticism, whether it is accurate and useful or not. And of course, in response to the fear of vulnerability, is quick to judge and criticize the other.

If one watches closely the interactions at the global level this year, one will see arrogance quite clearly but probably more extreme examples by the end of the year.

We are aware of most of our students being quite anxious and fatigued by the patterns of the collective in this intense transition into the mature soul paradigm.  We understand that the situation may look bleak as they peer ahead into the future of this year, and that the insight we are offering here today may only seem to validate what is feared ahead in the coming months, in terms of the polarization and the conflict and the chaos.

We do not ever suggest denying realities, which is why we tell you what we see as fairly as we can. We do not feel it serves you to gloss over realities that can be quite painful, shocking and horrendous to you, but our intention in telling you this is so that you can be more aware of where your choices lie within all of that.  For you can add to the chaos, confusion, conflict and “drama,” if you will, or you can choose to focus your energy and choices in directions that amplify peace, goodness, harmony and beauty in your personal worlds as well as in the larger communities of which you are a part.

The evolution will happen and is happening.  How you get there as a collective is your choice. You can get there through catastrophe and chaos or through unity, creativity and beauty. It is your choice. We share this with you so that you can make more conscious choices.

It might be helpful over the year to remember this:

I AM NOT THE WHOLE BUT I AM A PART OF THE WHOLE AND DIRECTLY INFLUENCE THE WHOLE.

MY CHOICES MATTER.

In a time when choices are critical and the ramifications seen much more quickly than in the past, what you choose to contribute to the collective energy has great impact.  This is a year we think will come to be realized by many the power and impact one person and many can have, as they begin to own their responsibility and their choice, their leadership, their passion, their pragmatism and their warrior spirit.

The Choice to Be Kind or Cruel

(approximate reading time 10-15mins)

Wow, how fast time flies!  I have wanted to blog about “choice” for the past 6 months, but for various reasons, have not.

It seems I haven’t been able to “keep-up” with the demands of life this year.  And at various points and times throughout the year, it seems I have forgotten that I can choose.

So, today, I choose to sit and finally write this dang’ blog!

Where to start, though?  This concept of choice (“…all is choice, and all choices are valid…we are here to learn how to choose and to choose how to learn”), that is the essence of the Michael Teachings, is vast and can be approached from infinite angles that might be useful.

Obviously, this will be an ongoing exploration and discussion, but I must start somewhere.

I have decided to start with an area of choice that has been very personal to me this year and very critical to my healing and evolutionary journey in general: the choice to be kind and loving to myself and my life or to be cruel.

As I said about this year so far, I have felt like I’ve not been able to keep up with the demands of life. This is not the whole truth.  Actually, I have been doing pretty well with the demands of life.  What has been much harder to keep up with are my ideals and desires for improvement and expansion.  In many ways this year, they have had to take a back-seat so that I could just “take care of business” and “do what needed to be done.”

I know all of it is life, but still, this year it seems “life got in the way.”

The perfect example is the writing of this blog.  My ideal was to have it written back in February, but it is now August.

This is but one example of many that I could give this year.  And all along the way, over and over again, I have had to make a choice about how I would relate to myself and my life while not meeting my own expectations and ideals.

I could choose to be cruel to myself in my interpretations:

img031

“See, you just aren’t good enough to keep up.”

“You should just give up.”

“What is wrong with you?”

“Life sucks and is unfair!”

“Why can’t you seem to get it together?

Now, I’d be lying if I said that I never had any of these thoughts, but they are not the ones I choose to focus on and amplify.

I choose to focus on the kind and loving thoughts that I know are the truth about me and my life. These thoughts are coming from my unconditionally loving and wise soul:

img028“You are doing just fine.”

“There is nothing wrong with not being able to ‘keep-up’ sometimes.”

“You don’t have to give up, and that is not what you are doing.  You are adapting and learning to be flexible, rather than rigid in the pursuit of your goals.”

“There is absolutely nothing wrong with you.  Life can be challenging at times and messy.”

“You have actually been doing quite well with balancing all of the areas of life that are important to you, and you have become aware of what needs to change so that you can find a better balance.”

“Bravo!  You are LIVING!”

Ah, the kind and loving thoughts feel so much better and encouraging!  And they are not flattery or “going too easy on myself.”  They are truth, and truth is loving.  How do I know?  Because these thoughts give me relief and allow me to be present and centered with what is in my life at this time. There is no resistance, just a simple acknowledgment of what is, and the truth that what is, is OK.

I feel safe and in partnership with my life.

From this place of kindness, I can continue forward making any changes in my life that I wish to make.  I can continue to grow, change, expand, be flexible, meet challenges, gain insight, be more fulfilled-the whole nine yards.

So, what about you?

Have you been cruel or kind to yourself this year?

If you have been cruel, has it helped?  Have you felt relief, felt lighter, felt more encouraged?  Have you enjoyed life more?  Has it served you?

And if you have been kind to yourself, has that helped?  If so, how?

I can honestly say that the choice to be kind to myself has not always felt like it got me closer to completing my goals any faster, but it has certainly helped me to enjoy myself and life more, no matter where I am with my completion of goals.

I have asked Michael to comment on the choice to be kind or cruel to one’s self based on how one assesses their level of fulfillment of expectations and ideals:

Yes, we understand.  First we will say that it is absolutely your choice whether or not to be cruel or kind to yourself in your interpretations, in your assessments of where you are in relation to the fulfillment of your goals and ideals.

Some are quite “happy” choosing cruelty over kindness as they relate to themselves.

We do not want you to think that you must choose kindness or that there is a “right” and a “wrong” way to choose.  If all choices were not valid choices from which to evolve yourselves, then it would not be true that all choices are indeed valid, and this would make our teaching invalid at its foundation.

You are free to choose cruelty in your assessments or kindness.  We have no investment in you choosing one way or the other, as we know you will all learn to choose in a way that allows you to experience more truth, love and energy in your lives.  This is guaranteed.  There is no other game to be played.  You will evolve.

And you will evolve at your own pace, whether that be at a slower or faster pace.

Life is not a race, and you are free to go at your own pace…which is what you are doing anyway.

However, if you are wanting to accelerate your growth and evolution, then being kind to yourself is indeed the fast track.  Any other way of relating to yourself would be distraction from the purpose of life.

The purpose of life is to experience it fully, to learn and to evolve.

When you are cruel to yourself, you delay your learning and you end up only partially experiencing your life; for you are meant to experience ALL of life and not only one part.

We know our time is limited in this format, as our channel does not wish for this blog to be too long.

So we will close with saying that the choice to be cruel or kind to yourself, no matter where you are in life, is significant if you care about experiencing life to the fullest, learning and evolving at a steady pace and actually feeling pleasure throughout your bodies as you go along.

Otherwise, it is one choice among many, and will not make or break your evolution in the long-run.

It is your choice how you will learn.

~Michael Entity

And what do you think about all this?  About my thoughts and about Michael’s?

How It All Began: My Introduction to The Michael Teachings (Part II)

(approx reading time 10-15mins)

With the introduction of The Michael Teachings, I began my free-fall down yet another rabbit-hole of self-awareness.

Michael claims to be a group of soul “fragments” that have reunited into one, unified group consciousness.  Every fragment from that “entity” (Michael terminology for spiritual family) has completed its round of incarnations on the physical plane.  Now, the entity of soul fragments exists on and teaches from the causal plane (about one plane removed from the physical plane: physical, astral, causal, *akashic, mental, messianic, buddhic).

This is some far-out stuff, huh?

If all of what Michael says about themselves is true, then I’m literally studying with thousands of dead people!

As “out-there” as this possibility seemed to me at the time I was first introduced to the teachings (and still does from time-to-time), this was not what stood out to me the most.

What stood out to me the most about Michael and their teaching and what really got my attention was their unconditional understanding and compassion for my human experience.

As I began to read as much of their channeled material as possible and work with them in my own private sessions, I was struck by the fact that they never made me or their other students wrong, never scolded, never shamed, never became impatient with us.  On the one hand, they could be extremely direct and blunt with their information and perspective (which could be very unflattering for the ego!) and yet come across as only kind, caring and compassionate in their motivation and intention.

My very first in-person channeling session with Michael was in the context of a group session.  Most of the other people there knew each other, already, but I didn’t know a soul (pun intended!).  The channel (Troy of TruthLoveEnergy) asked Michael to speak about a general topic that might benefit the group and then allowed each person to ask Michael a personal question.

When my turn came to ask Michael a question, I wanted to know about a specific man whom I had been getting to know on an intimate level.  The conversation went something like this:

“Hi, Michael.”

“Hello, Nicholas.”

“I have been dating this guy for a few weeks, and we have a very intense connection.  We’re both attracted to each other, and we both want to be together, but he is pushing me away.  He is HIV positive, and this adds complications to our getting to know each other.  But I have assured him that we can figure it out together, and that I am not put-off by his status.  I just want to know what is going on with him and why he is so resistant?”

“First-off, we would ask you – why are you not asking him this question?

I tried to hide my embarrassment from the group and responded with,

“Well, I know I can talk to him about this, but I am wondering if there is anything going on that he is not telling me?”

“From what we can see, there is nothing more going on here than what you already know.  He is afraid.”

And that was that.  There may have been a bit more said, but I can’t remember at this point.  What I do remember is that in that moment I learned an important lesson about relationships and communication that I took with me and applied across the board in my life.

Still, my start with these teachings was tentative in many ways, as I had been prone to gullibility in the past and was at a place in my own personal evolution where I was beginning to doubt and question ideas and the sources of those ideas.

Also, because Michael’s delivery of their teaching was not flowery or gushing with emotion, I was suspicious.  I had been used to other new age-y sources that were full of feeling, sentiment and “personality.”  At first, I was a bit taken aback by this lack of feeling and all of the “heady” intellectual terminology and concepts.  I wondered if there was any practical merit to the teachings, or were they just a means for navel gazing and intellectual masturbation.

My second interaction with Michael helped me to shift this initial reaction to their content and style of teaching.  This interaction was also in a group format, but via an internet chat room.

If you are not familiar with Michael’s delivery and terminology, you may want to go slowly and even reread this excerpt several times:

~ Channeled by Troy Tolley of TruthLoveEnergy

This conversation with Michael had a subtle yet powerful impact on me.  Here was a teacher that didn’t try to convince me of anything but left plenty of room for me to grapple with the information and come to some understanding and perspective on my own.

I believe this blog has already grown lengthy, and I hope I didn’t lose any of you reading!

But if you just read that, then you are still with me.  Great!

I will wrap it up, then, and leave you with a summary of what to me are some of the most important core ideas that Michael encourages us to explore, if we feel so inclined:

*We are essence/spirit/consciousness at our core.
*We chose to incarnate, to have this physical plane experience.
*Reincarnation is valid.
*Essence/soul makes the choices that setup a lifetime, but once born and after the first breath, personality has complete “control” over the lifetime through its choices.
*Essence does not impose or interfere with a lifetime unless personality consciously or unconsciously invites it to “help” and/or participate in the lifetime.
*Choice is our most powerful tool.
*All choices are valid.
*No lifetime is wasted; every choice evolves the soul, even if only very slowly.
*Karma is valid.
*Karma is intensity and imbalance that is created when we interfere with our own or others’ choices.
*Karma serves to propel evolution forward, as the soul seeks to balance the karma and balance all karma before “cycling off” the physical plane
*As the soul gains experience through its personalities, it evolves in soul age perspective and progressively “remembers itself.”
*Essence has a design that remains the same throughout all of its physical plane cycle and beyond, but personality is designed differently for each lifetime

*The point of a lifetime is to be physical and experience the physical plane.

And finally, one sentence that sums up Michael’s entire teaching:

*We are here to learn how to choose and to choose how to learn.*

~

In the next few posts, I will talk about Michael’s overleaf system: a kind of soul and personality map for understanding our own and others’ being, expression and behavior.  I’ll do this from the very personal angle of sharing my own essence and personality profile that I received from Michael and discussing its very profound impact on me.
